Promoting evidence informed clinical reasoning in early intervention

The journey to becoming a skilled pediatric EI therapist

Lets spend some time thinking about the journey each of us has taken to reach the level of competence  have acquired as early intervention PTs and OTs.

This journey will usually start with a module in your undergraduate program covering infant development and an introduction to one or other approach to intervention, most often neurodevelopmental therapy (Bobath) concept.

Depending on where you live and work you may have had an opportunity to attend a postgraduate course or have had the privilege of working with an experienced pediatric therapist.

But many therapists start their career in pediatric therapy with limited knowledge and skills, especially in early intervention and limited  opportunities for upskilling.

How the TOMT tutorials can help fill the gap

I hope that the TOMT tutorials can help to fill the gap by providing information about typical development, assessment and ways to use goal orientated training to improve infant and toddler movement abilities.

Making resources easier to find

To make it easier to find information I have pulled together tutorials and other information in sections following the longitudinal trajectories used in the AIMS assessment.
