In this video you will see Lily and Pam playing with a set of plastic beakers.
The video provides an opportunity to observe several basic hand actions and social interactions which form part of the ongoing intentional and goal directed behaviors which are embedded in the play session.
During this play session Lily is socially very interactive, but for the most part does not copy my actions. She is more intent on doing her own thing.
Hand actions
- Hold and stabilize an object against the body
- Hold and pull - in this instance gripping the edge of the beaker using a thumb-to-forefinger grip pattern
- Insert hand into a container to retrieve and object
- Insert hand into container - hide hand
- Hide behind a curtain
Social interactions and attention
- Request help
- Request a particular action - in this case put all beakers out
- Share pleasure
- Passing toy to a play-partner
